I hope you all have had a safe and ‘interesting’ but perhaps not ‘too interesting’ Spring!
This little corner of your inbox has been through a few seasons with me. We’ve post a lot about upcoming patterns, chase days and more. Lately, I’ve been thinking about what this space should feel like moving forward. And the truth is, both life and this project have shifted.
When I first started sending these notes, they were mostly about forecasting. Helping you know what was coming. But here’s the honest part. I’m not a full-time forecaster. Tornado Titans is a part-time passion, and when storm season hits, my days start with breakfast and head straight out onto the open road. I rarely have the time to dedicate to full-on forecasting for public consumption outside of a random social media post — which…I even forget about that sometimes.
So basically, I realized this year that I couldn’t give forecasts the time or consistency they really deserve. And truthfully, there are so many other great places to get that information that I am really not sure what value we are adding in that space.
At the same time, I’ve been reminded this season repeatedly where Tornado Titans shines.
It’s in curiosity, creativity, and connection. It’s in teaching how the atmosphere works. It’s in capturing the incredible beauty of the sky. And it’s in sharing the joy, awe, and sometimes heartbreak of chasing storms and exploring the natural world.
So this newsletter is entering a new chapter. You’ll still hear about what we’re chasing and what we’re up to. I’ll never say never to talking about a setup or a pattern we’re watching. That’s part of how we capture incredible after all!
But this won’t be a weather feed or a rolling forecast anymore. I want this to be a space for learning, wonder, and storytelling. A place where we can share more of the heart behind the chase. And hopefully, have a little fun along the way.
At its core, Tornado Titans has always been about two things: Weather is for everyone and capturing incredible.
That hasn’t changed. If anything, this next phase brings us closer to that spirit than ever before.
I’m excited about what’s ahead, and grateful to have you along for the ride if you choose to stay on board.
Talk to you all soon,
Raychel
I did like the forecasting, which was described in normal, everyday language for people like me who struggle with skew-Ts and detailed surface observations, but I will respect whichever way you go with this. With multi-thanks, Dave from the UK.
I am looking forward it and I am on this ride since day one and I can’t wait to see what is next for Tornado Titans
