When you get to the heart of Spring, some days that look very iffy end up producing the storm of the year photographically. On this day, the wind shear was just so very questionable almost the entire day — but a very small pocket of enhanced winds in the mid-levels moved over the area this Western Kansas supercell was churning over and it was like the storm pushed a button to look epic. The minute difference between seeing a so-so storm and an epic storm on this day was literally the storm happening to form 30 miles north of where others did. When a storm sculpts out with incredible structure like this, you know the wind shear was very curved with height. An unbelievable day near Leoti. #kansas #weather #nature #science #supercell
