Sometimes, we will point to a period more than a week out as something to watch — but we have a policy of absolutely never, ever trying to hype something up beyond a casual mention. We always mention the key phrase, “This is over x days out, so expect big/massive changes but we’re keeping an eye on it.”

This is for a reason!

We wanted to point out this graphic to show that, if you see any weather pages posting weather models and pointing to specifics or making big declarations for a setup many days out — it’s best not to put much stock into those types of outlooks.

On the left is a model image that’d leave you to believe it was time to chase a tornado outbreak this Sunday, on the right is a model image that’d leave you to believe it’s going to be a pleasant, sunny, and slightly humid day. In short: they’re not even in the same ballpark!
