Tornado watches mean conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form in the next few hours. A warning is literally an alert telling you a tornado is ongoing or imminent. I explain this in a bit more detail in the video.
I also touch on how each specific category (watch and warning) actually have especially bad versions of each, which I think is an important nugget to remember when you are making severe weather safety plans.
As we move headfirst into April/May/June, which is the historic peak of tornado activity in the country — it is a good time to develop a severe weather action safety plan.
