I, like many of you, watched in horror as a supercell rapidly took shape and took aim on Western Mississippi. This tornado was rated an EF-4 and caused devastating human loss of life along its path.

But why did it happen? What was so different about the area this tornado formed in versus the other areas that saw storms but not devastating tornadoes?
