These types of images are going to be flooding social media over the coming 5-7 days with very dire declarations about cloud cover and the solar eclipse.

Don’t trust anything right now.

We will know more about when/where clouds are more likely than not in about a week, but we won’t know for sure until the day or two leading up to the eclipse. 

Our best advice is this: There are almost certainly going to be clouds along the eclipse’s path of totality, and there will almost certainly be clear air along the eclipse’s path of totality. The only way to ensure you have clear air is to be flexible with your plans until the very last minute.
