We have a system slated to move through the Plains in the coming 48 hours, bringing another round of snow to the region. Models are being pretty sporadic on totals and locations this far out, which likely means lower overall totals and a bit sporadic in coverage.

Generally, models bring snow even south of I-40, but the totals are typically in the 1-3” range for most. This is mainly due to a lack of deep moisture in this part of the system as it deepens and moves northeast. However, the story differs from Kansas to Eastern Nebraska and the Midwest, where yet another blizzard may impact this region.

I’m specifically seeing bullish snowfall projections from short-term high-resolution models across SE Nebraska into SW Iowa. Expect major impacts to travel along I-70 and I-80 through the end of the workweek as this system moves through.
