Tornado Season Has Been Active, Will It Continue?
The run from late April to Early May was an all-timer. But what comes next?
Our last video on the state of the season talked about how the season was about to shift into high gear. Now, let’s talk about what comes next…
I was pretty reasonably confident in the last video because it was very apparent the season was about to become intense. Going forward, my confidence is lower but the calendar and models are all hinting at continued chances for severe weather.
Looking Ahead
We’re in the midst of a mid-season lull, which some have called the ‘halftime’ of tornado season. It really does feel that way with a very busy pattern becoming apparent ahead on almost every model.
We expect that we’ll be chasing a lot starting as soon as tomorrow into early June. The pattern will likely slowly shift north throughout the next few weeks as summertime ridging tries to build into the south. And there are no apparent big days just yet, but I do think there are a few out there waiting over the next 2.5 weeks.
That’s It For Now!
This is a quick update today featuring our newest video. Lots to come in the next few weeks. Stay safe out there, and as always, stay weather aware!
