Every new storm chaser will learn some harsh lessons while chasing — that is how you get better! Failing at the start is how we learn our best lessons that turn into successes down the line. I experienced my fair share of hard lessons or important findings so this video is dedicated to past me who was frustrated or ready to quit for the year or just flat out sad because I missed something truly unique and incredible — I wouldn’t be where I’m at without those experiences.

In fact, one of the lessons in the video is born out of those frustrating days where I simply didn’t enjoy a day and actually have thought about quitting — it’s legit hard out there sometimes. The more pressure you put on yourself to succeed, the harder busts are to take after all. This whole piece on gratitude and storm chasing will be a video eventually on this channel.

Outside of that, there are three practical chasing tips here and another overarching philosophy item that I think some people will find appreciation for as I see others really struggling with whether you are a photographer or a videographer.

So hey, these five tips are things I really wish I knew when I started — there are so many more and we’re going to do a lot more videos along these lines in the comings months so….stay tuned!
