It’s good to be back from Holiday break! Thank you to the weather for staying quiet to give the team a good rest. The first storm system of 2024 will move into the middle of the country late next week, with the chief impacts occurring from late Wednesday through Friday.

It does not look like this system is moisture-starved at all. Thus, we’ll see a lot of snow on this system’s north and west sides, but where that falls depends entirely on the eventual track. Currently, the most likely area for winter storm conditions will likely be from New Mexico/Colorado east into the Panhandles and Kansas.

A cold rain should be the main feature on the east and south sides of the system. As of right now, I do not see much of a severe weather threat with this one. That may not be the case for a system we’re watching next week.
