Driving beside a cone tornado churning over the Texas landscape! This tornado formed from a storm that we refer to as a low-precipitation supercell. The rear-flank downdraft was fairly dry with this storm (but not completely!), which allowed for amazing (and safe) viewing angles from all directions and distances by storm chasers. Getting a combo like this is pretty rare, but it always results in spectacular moments for cameras to capture. I’ll never forget what little rain there was seemed to end up on my glasses or our camera lenses, though! That stuff is sneaky!

This twister was one of several its parent storm produced near the small community of Lockett, #Texas. #tornado #weather #nature #science #twisters #thunderstorm
