The team is out in the field from Colorado to Texas today, with some towering CU observed by our team down in the Texas Panhandle and in Colorado.

Right now the cap is holding firm, but with continued heating and mixing we’re expecting at least a couple to a few storms to form, especially in the Panhandles and up into NW KS and NE Colorado. With such strong capping, storms may struggle to maintain — but at the very least we expect a large hail risk with the higher tornado risk with any sustained storms that can interact favorably with a surface front from NE Colorado into NW Kansas.
