The system that spawned severe weather over the Plains yesterday, including a few tornadoes mostly after dark, is on the move to the east. A big severe risk is outlined for portions of the Midwest. The SPC’s significant level 4/5 risk includes the risk of strong tornadoes today. Models paint a picture of a lot of storms today, and a cursory glance at the environment does show a lot of low-level shear storms could take advantage of.

This area is typically out of our chase range (and thus our coverage), but we wanted to make a note for those who might live in and near these areas. One of the important things outfits like ours can serve is to spread the word about bigger risk days. Stay safe out there!
