Looking at observational data and model trends, the thick cloud cover over much of the region is hampering heating quite a bit. What isn’t slowing down is the upper level storm system which is screaming into the region with storm initiation likely in the next 90-120 minutes. Low-level wind shear is fairly weak at the moment, but early storms will pose a giant hail risk.
