Yesterday was a historic severe weather day from the Eastern Plains to the Midwest. Unfortunately, it was also a deadly one with killer tornadoes in Indiana and Ohio.

From a science perspective, a lot about yesterday is going to be worth studying, but the fact that (as of this writing) we have had 98 reports of significant (giant) hail across multiple states in one day is very notable.

Here are some of the large hail reports across multiple states:

  • 5.25” – 1 mile south of Ada, OK
  • 4.5” – 1 mile south of Ada, OK
  • 4” – 4 miles west of Sulphur Springs, AR
  • 4” – Nortonville, IL
  • 3” – Bloomville, OH
  • 3” – 1 mile east of Livingston, IL
  • 3” – 2 miles east of O’Fallon, MO
  • 2.75” – 2 miles east of Bartonville, TX
  • 2.75” – 2 miles southeast of Greentown, IN
  • 2.75” – Gravette, AR
  • 2” – 5 miles east of Glencoe, KY
