Tropical Storm Isaac Update: US Landfall Likely?
If you believe the NHC and the weather models, Tropical Storm Isaac is taking aim on Florida and could make landfall as a Hurricane there by early next week. the official NHC forecast has Isaac making landfall in Florida by Monday morning as a Hurricane. While it’s too early to get caught up on particulars of exactly where Isaac is heading, the threat to the US Coastline appears legit enough to at least start making preparations if you live or have travel plans to the SE US early next week. We’re not going to call for doomsday or anything like you’ll probably hear elsewhere, as Isaac has to go a long way and cross over several landmasses so there is no guarantee as to strength, timing, or location at this point. But we’re keeping an eye on it and so should you.

Models are generally in agreement as of this morning on Isaac’s eventual path, taking it over Hispanola and Cuba before making a more N’ly turn into Florida.

GFS model ensembles seem clustered around the same solution for Isaac as well. It’s definitely time to start paying heavy attention on the SE’rn US Seaboard.

Meanwhile, well out into the Atlantic, Tropical Depression Ten should become a Tropical Storm but poses no threat to land at this time except maybe Bermuda.
