We oftentimes take it for granted that people understand what an unstable atmosphere is.

So in this video we’re going to talk about the basics of what instability actually is.

Instability is when colder air is above warmer air. Since warm air rises until it meets air at or above its temperature — this rising motion results in an unstable atmosphere in which severe storms can form.
