A large wedge tornado struck Hattiesburg, Mississippi on February 10, 2013, causing extensive damage to parts of town. Below you will find all of the pics and videos we can find of the Hattiesburg Tornado. Currently it looks as if the tornado went through the busiest parts of town and curently, as of this update only three people are known to have been injured by the tornado. If that stands, that’s a miracle in every way and major kudos should be sent to everyone involved in the warning process. The Hattiesburg Tornado was a clear wedge, with some folks saying it was 1/2 mile wide. Tornadoes in the southern US are not uncommon in February, as Dixie Alley’s tornado season typically ramps up in February and March into April.

John Sibley’s Hattiesburg Tornado Footage

Many of you watched John’s stream this afternoon in awe just like we did of the huge tornado he streamed live (pictured above). Well if you are also like us, you definitely aren’t going to believe your eyes when you see the raw footage of this encounter! This thing had serious ground speed and strong motion! The part of the video around 1:50 is just insane looking motion in the funnel. Very surprised at the low injury count thus far, but in the ultra pleasant way!
