The storm chase on April 16, 2017 involved what looked to be an obvious target according to weather models in the Texas Panhandle. However, a cursory glance of the surface chart showed a pretty stout outflow boundary with expected supercell conditions in NW OK.
While no weather model was showing storms along that boundary, that forecast really didn’t make much sense. So I went for it like the crazed, outflow boundary obsessed maniac I am, and it paid off with a tornado very early in the storm’s evolution!
